Cheerwine

Cheerwine is the greatest soft drink on Earth. Unfortunately, its distribution is somewhat geographically limited (although better in the past several years; in high school, I had to stock up for an entire summer on my one annual trip to western North Carolina).

The version sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup, like most U.S. soft drinks, is pretty darn good. But the original formula, made with cane sugar, is mind-blowingly awesome. It’s sold only in 12-ounce non-returnable glass bottles, and only bottled even that way by a certain subset of Cheerwine bottlers.

It’s available in single glass bottles at various random gas stations and retailers at least in Virginia and North Carolina. But the only source I know so far for 6-packs and cases of 24 is the Dulles Wegmans at VA 28 and Pacific Blvd. in Sterling, VA, just north of Dulles Airport. If you have other sources, particularly in Central Virginia or the Shenandoah Valley, get in touch.
